Phase 4

Through this course, I’ve developed strategies for reading, drafting, collaborating, revising, and editing that I did not have before. In order to effectively write my essays, I jot down a rough draft on a google doc and revise it afterward. I write down my thoughts and necessary information and make it into a rough draft on which I leave comments and suggestions afterward. I re-read my rough draft and highlight the parts that need to be worked on and include a comment on the doc of what needs to be revised, included, or removed from the essay. This strategy allows me to get all the necessary information down first and edit later. I’m able to add information I choose as well as rephrase my words to make them more formal and appropriate for my essay. It’s time-efficient and gets me the best results on my essays.

Prior to developing this strategy, I struggled to write essays in a time-efficient way. I would write my essays line by line and always get stuck in a writer’s block as I wouldn’t be satisfied with what I wrote. I rarely made rough drafts as I would just write my essay line by line as it was. It was a very inefficient way to work but it was the only way I knew how to. I also frequently struggle with time management and the way I used to write my essays didn’t benefit me in any way. It only made the writing process longer and it took me double the time than it should’ve to write the essays. However, through this course, I’ve learned how to write my essays in a more timely and efficient manner which gets me better results as well. This strategy has changed my perception of the way I write my essays and helps me to finish my essays in a more convenient manner.
